In a two-week review, Tom's Guide evaluated the Framework Laptop 12, highlighting its rare balance of modular repairability, swappable Expansion Card ports, and a compact 12.2-inch convertible form factor. The reviewer assembled the barebones DIY model in roughly 20 minutes, praising its hardware accessibility, comfortable keyboard, and seamless out-of-the-box Fedora Linux support. However, testing revealed notable limitations, including an overly reflective display with narrow color gamut coverage, an underperforming 2MP webcam, and an active stylus sold separately. The reviewer concludes it is an appealing productivity companion for users prioritizing repairability over sleek ultrabook design.
