Fitbit Edge Activity Tracker Announced at $179 to Replace the Charge Line
DC Rainmaker reports that Google and Fitbit have announced the Fitbit Edge at $179 (or $219 for a Stephen Curry Special Edition), replacing the Charge series with pre-orders reported open now ahead of October 27 availability. Compared to the Charge 6, the new tracker adds a larger 1.34-inch AMOLED display, a clickable side button, an altimeter, a user-replaceable battery, structured workouts, and claimed GPS and auto-workout detection upgrades. However, the author notes it removes Google Pay contactless payments, drops the EDA scan feature, and uses a new band attachment mechanism. The author has received a unit from the company, with hands-on testing still pending.
