# PCMag Review: Birdbuddy Home Smart Feeder Brings Solar Upgrades but Tougher Competition Canonical page: https://savlume.com/items/sjpjdv9s4o3kmr6z93cs5a2hg Publisher: Savlume Published on Savlume: 2026-09-27T12:00:00.000Z Content updated: 2026-10-13T20:08:26.381Z Source publication time: 2026-09-27T12:00:00.000Z Offer status: Unverified PCMag evaluated the $299 Birdbuddy Home smart bird feeder, highlighting welcome physical improvements such as an integrated solar roof, longer battery endurance, a larger seed door, and core app features accessible without a subscription. However, the reviewer observed drawbacks in the redesigned camera, including edge distortion, frequent lens smudges from close-perching birds, and occasional underexposure in uneven lighting. Given lower-cost alternatives like the $119.99 Birdfy Rookie, the reviewer recommends that existing Smart Feeder Pro owners skip this generation. ## Media review PCMag rated the Birdbuddy Home 3.5/5, praising its integrated solar power, larger battery, easier refilling, and free core app features while criticizing camera trade-offs and stronger value competition.
