Sony has launched the ECM-AX10, a 24-gram smartphone microphone priced at $249 and available for pre-order through Amazon, Sony, and select retailers. Designed for vloggers and mobile creators, the USB-C mic incorporates four omnidirectional capsules and supports Ambisonics spatial audio, binaural, and stereo recording modes. It also introduces Eclipsa Audio certification to ensure spatial playback compatibility on YouTube. Buyers should note that while binaural audio delivers 3D sound across standard headphones, full Ambisonics spatial playback remains limited by hosting platform support.
