Google has announced the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker, replacing the Charge lineup with a reported retail price of $179 ahead of its October 27 launch. According to DC Rainmaker, the new model introduces a 46% larger AMOLED screen, a tactile side button, an altimeter, a user-replaceable battery, and expanded automatic workout tracking. However, upgrades come with trade-offs, as Google removed NFC contactless payments and EDA scanning while setting a higher baseline price than previous Charge generations.
